Three (or four) Times Twelve- July

This month’s photo is bittersweet.

Bitter because it was taken yesterday, which was our last day with the Little Man for the summer. He’s off having adventures with his grandparents, who live in town near us. Hopefully we’ll get to see him before he goes back to California.

I’m going to try very hard to not dwell on the inevitable sadness and loneliness of not having him here and the uncertainty of not knowing when we’ll see him again..We’ve done this before, I know we’ll be okay. It’s just really really hard.

It never gets easier, but this is our 4th summer since his mom took him away and we have developed coping mechanisms. Jason has Civilizations, which is pretty engrossing. I have a huge pile of books to listen to. And a lot of scrapbooking assignments to finish up. And a lot of blog posts to write. And we got cable, so that should keep us nice and distracted for awhile.

The “sweet” in the bittersweet is that this is the only picture that has all three of us, plus Miss Kitty. Jason is a master at the extended arm photo. 🙂 So here we are, another family photo down. Still one of my favorite projects ever!

Curious about Three Times Twelve? It’s pretty simple. Sometime late last year I ran across this blog from Tara Whitney. She wanted to photograph her whole family, once a month, for a whole year. (Since then I’ve found a couple other people doing something similar, but she’s the one I got the original idea from). So I decided to do that for our little family. You can find my other Three Times Twelve posts here.
