Todays topic is –
How would your friends/ family describe you?
This one was a toughie for me. I really don’t know how other people “see” me. I try not to live my life worrying about what others think of me. But I think I really care about that more than I want to.
So instead of trying to figure out what people think of me, I decided to go right to the sources. I texted and emailed a few people. My mom and sister are the only ones who’ve replied with any substance so far, so here’s what they had to say-
My mom wrote me an incredibly sweet email. I won’t put it here because it’s really personal. She and I are pretty open and honest about how bad our relationship was (and still can be at times). I get into a little of that here. That email (and the texts from my sister which I’ll get to) made this whole project totally worthwhile. As much as I would love to not care, it really feels good when people say nice things about you.
My mom’s list of words to describe me…
- Responsible
- Thrifty
- Kind hearted
- Sweet personality
- Smart.
- Very organized
- Supportive
- Strong willed aka stubborn
- Strong.
- Dependable.
- And most of all, a wonderful wife who’s in still in love with her husband and loves his son like he’s her own.
And she goes on and gets mushy and says junk about me being beautiful and stuff. You get the point. I know most people get that kind of stuff from their mom a lot. But I don’t. We’ve never had that kind of relationship. So it was nice to hear. And got us both a little emo.
Speaking of emo, my sister and I had a long drawn out text discussion where she surprisingly said a lot of similar things to my mom.
Her list was…
- Friendly
- Obsessive
- Kind
- Empathetic
- Learner
- Quirky
- Reliable (but not in a bad way)
- Inquisitive
- Moderator
- Damaged
- A survivor
And some other squishy stuff that I won’t get into.
So in case you’re wondering why I bothered asking other people, this is my list of how I thought people would describe me before I actually asked said people.
- Mostly nice, but can get bitchy when riled up
Now that wouldn’t have made for a very big list, huh?
