Spring Into Health LO’s

Tiff has some super cute new products for Grab A Byte this month. I love the little food papers and ellies, but there are plenty of more neutral items in this collection as well. Here are two pages I made. (For even more supplies in this same color scheme, check out Ohana Designs GAB products that I talked about earlier this week).

we heart cracker barrel web

The first page is another installment in our Epic Summer Road Trip saga. It’s funny how I find myself a lot more drawn to the smaller stories of our travels lately. I will get around to scrapping more monuments and things, but I have a feeling I’ll be scrapping that summer for years to come, so I’m in no hurry.

Journaling reads- We Heart Cracker Barrel. We always try to eat Cracker Barrel on road trips at least once. They’re a nice alternative to fast food, and there are usually healthy options (though we don’t always take advantage of those) Daytona Beach, 2013.

The second page was about the birthday breakfast we had for the Little Man. I usually don’t love tiny photos on my pages, but the food pictures were pretty terrible. So I threw as many RadLab actions as possible and shrunk them way down. And I kind of love that milk splatter behind the big photo.

More December Project Life + a West Virginia LO

I’m on a roll with this monthly Project Life thing! Here are three more pages.

The first is everyday stuff, more 30 Days of Lists (I’m not going to include all of them. A couple will probably become regular LO’s). Holiday music, attempting a topknot (which amazingly lasted all day and through a run), and one of the nicest things Jason has ever said to me… there is context, but I’m not sharing 😛

2013-12-c copy

The second is photos from our evening at two different parks. I love how they look edited in RadLab. That is definitely my new favorite toy.

2013-12-d web

And one more page heavily edited in RadLab showing pictures from decorating the tree. I eventually want to make pages for each of our different “special” ornaments, but for right now I’m happy to have them in my Project Life. It’s funny how I’m making more pages, but it seems so much less stressful this way. I used to spend a crazy amount of time editing out which stories and photos to go on one two page spread each week. Now I can include all the little things that I love, and I can still include pages with just one day or theme that have a ton of photos.

I also did a page with pictures from our recent West Virginia trip. Can you tell I’m into grid layouts lately?

How about some Project Life?

I have to say, my designers are Killing It lately. I am super inspired by all the new goodies! So much that I’m going to do a few more Project Life pages. This has been my worst year of doing PL by far. I have switched formats three or four times and nothing is really satisfying me. So I decided this fall to give a monthly approach a try. I’m So Over double page weekly spreads. I briefly thought about trying to catch up on missing weeks, but I’d really rather put my energy into other things, so I’m just going to start with December.

Dates:
December 1 through 3-ish

What happened this week?
The end of hurricane season and the beginning of 30 Days of Lists. A comparison of weather between here, Nashville, and Fargo. Some awesome sketches that my sister made. Starting Mile A Day a few days late after being sick for two weeks. Decorating for Christmas. Eating Hobbit Breakfast at Denny’s, and a couple of cool shots Jason got one evening after work.

Anything special?
I switched to a monthly format. I used PS shiny glitter styles to make the gold heart and a regular glitter style to make the pocket that looks like a present. I love playing with styles lately and you can always count on Tiff to make some for almost every kit. I tried out the Bokehful app on the picture of Miss Kitty under the tree and the candles. I also used the new Becky Higgins Template K for the first time.

Photos:
A mix of screenshots and phone pics from me and Jason. I use RadLab, PicTapGo, Instagram, and the aforementioned Bokehful app.

Some recent layouts

Here are some pages I’ve made recently. I’ve been on a crazy page making spree lately and having so much fun being inspired by my Un-Challenge Challenge last month. I have also done a few challenge LO’s for SBB already this month, so I’m just going to lump them all together. My Projects folder is getting out of hand again, so I want to move them all to my EHD. And I’m excited to add more pages to my Summer Pages page.

First up are several pages I made for Mandy’s DSD Grab Bag called Beautiful Blessings. I fell madly in love with this kit and could not stop making pages. (And FYI, you can still get this HUGE grab bag for only $5)

Journaling reads- I feel so grateful, not only to have had these wonderful adventures with you, but to have a hobby that allows me to relive them on a regular basis. I am the luckiest of women.

I made the next three for challenges at SBB this month. It’s really nice to be inspired by challenges again. I think I needed that break.

Plans Change web

Plans Change
Journaling reads- In early 2011, we were all set to buy the townhouse we were living in. We had been renting it for years and our landlord was giving us a great deal. Then all of a sudden we were told that he had received a better offer from someone else. We went from “We’re buying a house” to “We have a week and a half to pack up everything and find a new place to live”. At the time it was incredibly stressful. We were pretty devastated, but we did what we had to do. We worked as a team to find a new home and move. Our new apartment is in a better neighborhood and we’ve made a wonderful home for ourselves here. It’s the first place we’ve lived that I felt like was truly “ours”. Having the sale fall through was definitely a blessing in disguise!

How It All Began
Journaling reads- I was never a paper scrapbooker. Scissors and glue intimidate me. I’ve never considered myself to be a particularly creative person, but when my sister began designing chat icons, I started playing around in Photoshop to keep her company. While researching tutorials for photo manipulations, I discovered this thing called digital scrapbooking. I was totally hooked! Finally, something fun to do with all those photos my husband insisted on taking! I joined a wonderful forum called Scrappity Doo Dah, found some friends, joined some challenges, and the rest is history. A few hundred layouts later, I’m still madly in love with this hobby.

I thought for sure I’d shared that last one before. I made it back in June!

Whew that was a lot of LO’s. That gives you a little taste of the complete randomness of my pages. I’m concentrating on summer pages, but I love throwing in other kinds of pages too. It’s all good, it all counts 🙂

Sky photos

I cannot believe it’s been almost two weeks since I’ve posted! I’d love to say I’ve been super busy doing really important things, but that would be a lie. I have a few things to catch up on, so I’m going to just jump right in!

Jason and I take a lot of sky pictures. He loves sunsets and I have a thing for palm trees. So what to do with all those pictures?

Scrap a memory. Many of my sky photos are taken on our walks around the complex. This is something we do several times a week, so it’s definitely worth documenting.

Scrap a song. I took this one on our recent photo walk downtown. During most of the walk, I had this song from the Vampire Diaries soundtrack stuck in my head. I thought it was pretty appropriate for the occasion.

I look to the sky web

Journaling reads: I shot for the sky. I’m stuck on the ground. I’ve noticed lately that I take a lot of sky photos. Like, a ton. I’m almost always looking up when we go for walks, which I’m sure is annoying to Jason, as he is constanly having to pull me here and there to keep me from tripping over something or stepping in doggy “presents”.

Am I the only one who’s obsessed with sky photos? I think sky photos are the new feet photos 😛

Peacocks! Sequins! Yay!

As soon as I saw this LO on Shimelle’s blog, I knew I had to lift it. And by lift it, I mean copy it completely, peacock pictures, sequins, and all. It took me a few months, but I finally did it! I have big plans to copy, ahem lift, all the others in that post too. Sequins and beads and splatters… I love them all.

Peacocks web

Journaling reads- While we were in St. Augustine we visited the Fountain of Youth. One of the coolest things we saw there were the beautiful peacocks. They were gorgeous! And they strutted around like they owned the place too. July 16, 2013

CT LO: When September Ends using In This Moment by Inspired by Dominic

Wake Me Up web

I love all the stamp-y goodness in Tiff’s new collection. It was fun to get a little artsy with this layout.

Journaling reads- September is a cursed month in our family. Ever since the 1970’s at least. Not everything bad happens in September, but something bad or weird happens every September. There is always something-  an injury, something in the house breaks, a pet runs away. We try to not let it become a self-fulfilling prophecy, but things just seem to happen. It’s our shared family superstition.

From the Vault: Currently

I’m clearing out my Projects folder and moving my completed LO’s onto my EHD. Along the way, I found a bunch of pages that I haven’t blogged yet. Here is one of them.

Make A List papers, brushes, and highlights by Inspired By Dominic

I’m not sure why I never blogged all the pages I did for the iNSD at BPC challenges. Yeah, back in May… I know…

For this page, I took the journaling straight from my first Currently post from last September. I love looking back at posts like that to see what was on my mind at that time.

Journaling reads:

Thinking about breakfast

Feeling good about starting a fresh new day.

Hoping for a good diagnosis when we take the car in for a check up.

Struggling with someone who makes it a point to come around every 4-6 months and tell me what a horrible person I am.

Watching new fall TV shows and a few old favorites.

Listening to the fan whirring overhead and wondering how the heck I’m going to dust it this week. (We have high ceilings and I’ve been putting it off way too long).

Celebrating finishing my last Amelia Peabody book yesterday. I wanted to reread the series after the Little Man left. They make me smile.

Dreaming about fall weather and the holiday season.

Anticipating a couple more good swims before it cools down.

Mulling over ways to get more protein in our breakfasts.

Remembering I need to marinate those pork chops.

Pushing my new laptop to it’s limit.

Planning to finish up a summer photo book today. (or tomorrow).

Making a few more pages for end of month assignments.

Smelling new fall candles.

Loving this time of year.

Another Super Kid layout, plus Tomb of the Unknown using Remembering by Ohana Designs

Captain Americas web

Have I mentioned how much I love this kit?

I did this LO for the scraplift challenge at Scrapbook Bytes this month. For some reason the challenges at SBB are really inspiring me more than at any other site right now. I’ve looked at several other sites since SDD closed, and SBB has the best challenge rewards system by far. Anyway…

This LO tells the story of how Jason and Antoine dressed alike for the 4th of July this year. If this had happened to ladies, the claws would have come out and they would’ve spent the entire day avoiding each other in separate corners. Ha! But being dudes, they just laughed it off. 🙂

Journaling reads- Great minds think alike! What else would they wear on the 4th of July than Captain America shirts?

Remembering by Ohana Designs

I also did another LO using the Remembering kit by Ohana Designs. This one was for the Sketch challenge at SBB. (I did my first LO with Remembering here back in May). It’s interesting how they’re both so similar, which was totally unintentional. I think that kit lends itself to using big “statement photos” with minimal embellishment, although it does have some great elements! I have a ton of photos from our recent travels that I want to make similar pages with.

This photo was from our visit to Arlington and the Tomb of the Unknown soldier back in June. We were at a strange vantage point, but the most awkward part was this random tent they had placed beside the monument. You couldn’t get a photo without that tent. So I chose to cover it up with a wreath of flower embellishments. You can definitely still see the tent, but it’s not quite as obtrusive, I think.

Bazinga using Super Kid by Inspired by Dominic

Fair warning, I have at least five different ideas for LO’s using this kit. It’s just that awesome! Here’s the first. I have what feels like 100 stories from this summer buzzing around in my brain. I’ve so missed scrapbooking these past few weeks!

Journaling reads- Journaling reads- Charles started watching Big Bang Theory with us this summer. Now I kinda think he wants to be Sheldon Cooper when he grows up. He’s always quoting from the show and he’s even started laughing like Sheldon. He’s always loved comics and Star Wars, but now he’s expanding his reptoire to Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock. It’s so supemely nerdy and awesome!
