“Tornado Watch” using Fresh Fields by Mandy King

Fresh Fields by Mandy King Jubilee template by Zolio

Mandy’s newest release for Gotta Grab It is really cute. Love those clouds! And I love that Mandy feeds my doily addiction in nearly every kit 🙂 I used this one to tell the story of the bad weather we had the day before our epic road trip last summer. This was also the same day we met the ducklings.

Journaling reads- The day before we left for our Epic Road Trip the weather was very bad. Tornado watches all morning. We were worried about Jason driving in such bad weather but he did fine. It wasn’t too bad where we were, just lots of rain. Pretty scary for awhile though.

I Heart You by Mandy King

I super love this kit! Romantic without being too cutesy. (Although I love cutesy too)

I Heart You by Mandy King

This is one of my favorite pictures of Jason and Little Man. It was taken by Jason’s dad in St. Augustine the summer before last. And yes, the LO is super girly with not only flowers, but doilies too! But it’s my page and I like it, lol.

I Heart You by Mandy King

The colors in the kit reminded me of Christmas, so I thought it would be perfect for the little impromptu photo shoot we had in December. We did something similar a few years ago and I wanted to see if we could recreate it- with Santa hats! I love that he’s a good sport with things like that.

Life Unscripted layouts

I’m slowly getting a little mojo back after a rough few weeks. I’ve been neglecting my CT’s, so I will have a lot of catching up to do. But I’m looking forward to getting back in the swing of things. Life Unscripted kit, stacked papers, and hodgepodge by Mandy King

My dad gave me a ton of old family photos from the 60’s that I can’t wait to dive into! Along with them, I got this fantastic photo from 2001 showing my grandfather and several of his cousins. This is really special because I don’t have any other pictures of them all together. (And I just realized I have the date wrong. Need to fix that!)

One of Mandy’s CT members, Rebecca, makes the most gorgeous stacked papers, which I don’t use nearly enough. As soon as I saw this one, I thought it would be perfect for this photo. I added a few ellies and journaled the names of everyone in the photo. The whole process took hardly any time at all, but I’m left with one of my favorite pages so far this year.

Life Unscripted by Mandy King (alpha altered) Cozy template by Connie Prince

Y’all know I am not a pink person. But it was a lot of fun to get in touch with my girly side for this page. I even changed the alpha color to get a little extra pink in. The original alpha from the kit is multicolored. I used the color picker to choose the pink in the “p”, then created a new color fill layer on top of my title. Then I merged the two layers. The result was a little bland, so I added a “liquify” style by Mommyish that was similar to the original alpha. I am loving her styles right now!

Journaling reads- It was such a relief to get to Melissa’s house after our long drive. We took our stuff into Aaliya’s room. Melissa had warned us that it was a Hello Kitty room, but the sheer Pinkness of it was pretty great. Pink bedding, curtains, even pink walls with sparkles.. This is more color in one room than we have in our whole house!

Cinderella Castle 2 Using Dream Out Loud by Mandy King

Dream Out Loud by Mandy King

This is one of those pages that just seemed serendipitous. When I first saw this kit, I thought of making something completely different with it. Then I saw that tag that says “A dream is a wish your heart makes”. And it was all over with. I had to do a Cinderella page.

I made sure to get up and check my albums. I knew I had already made a page about the castle, but I couldn’t recall what was on it. As soon as I saw the older page, I remembered that I had plenty of photos of the castle at night that would go nicely with the kit colors. And funnily enough, the colors in Mandy’s kit were similar to the colors in my other page, so I could have them facing each other in the album without a lot of clashing. Yay! I was also able to take a few of the design elements- photo blocks with stacked papers behind them- and use them on this page. They’re similar, but not too matchy-matchy.

(If you’re interested in the kit from the other page, it’s available here now)

Sledding using Snowbound by Mandy King

Snowbound by Mandy King

The Little Man’s mom sent us these pics of him sledding last week. He is one of those blobs 😛 I’m super happy when we get pictures from them. I don’t always scrap them because they’re obviously not my memories. But I think he’ll like opening his book next summer and seeing some of them on pages.

Since I’m going to be scrapping over 30 pages this month with the Month of Challenges and my CT pages, they will probably be pretty simple in style. I’ve really embraced simpler, less embellished pages in 2013. Which is probably a bit of a relief for my guys- less pages full of flowers! It’s still a struggle sometimes not to scatter flowers hither and yon. But luckily I can replace them with other things, like the snowflakes here.

And on a side note, I used the same Rad Lab recipe on these pictures as I did to edit these taken in Pittsburg. I almost didn’t save the recipe once I found the settings I liked, because who knew when I’d have a chance to edit snow pictures again, right? Another reason I heart Rad Lab, it saves my experiments for me. 🙂

More December Project Life + a West Virginia LO

I’m on a roll with this monthly Project Life thing! Here are three more pages.

The first is everyday stuff, more 30 Days of Lists (I’m not going to include all of them. A couple will probably become regular LO’s). Holiday music, attempting a topknot (which amazingly lasted all day and through a run), and one of the nicest things Jason has ever said to me… there is context, but I’m not sharing 😛

2013-12-c copy

The second is photos from our evening at two different parks. I love how they look edited in RadLab. That is definitely my new favorite toy.

2013-12-d web

And one more page heavily edited in RadLab showing pictures from decorating the tree. I eventually want to make pages for each of our different “special” ornaments, but for right now I’m happy to have them in my Project Life. It’s funny how I’m making more pages, but it seems so much less stressful this way. I used to spend a crazy amount of time editing out which stories and photos to go on one two page spread each week. Now I can include all the little things that I love, and I can still include pages with just one day or theme that have a ton of photos.

I also did a page with pictures from our recent West Virginia trip. Can you tell I’m into grid layouts lately?

Anniversary Stocking

When I was writing out my list of traditions, I started thinking of my Anniversary Stocking. I  looked through photos to find a picture of it. I was shocked to discover that I only had one, from last year. I immediately dropped what I was doing and made a LO. That stocking is one of my very favorite thing about the holiday season, but it’s been completely undocumented… until now!

Making Spirits Bright by Mandy King

Journaling reads- Every year on our wedding anniversary, Jason fills my sparkly stocking with goodies, sweet little things that I love, but wouldn’t buy for myself.

He started this tradition on our wedding night and has done it every year since. I had told him that when I was young, I used to fill my own stocking at xmas. He wanted me to know that once we got married, I’d never have to fill my own stocking again..

Some recent layouts

Here are some pages I’ve made recently. I’ve been on a crazy page making spree lately and having so much fun being inspired by my Un-Challenge Challenge last month. I have also done a few challenge LO’s for SBB already this month, so I’m just going to lump them all together. My Projects folder is getting out of hand again, so I want to move them all to my EHD. And I’m excited to add more pages to my Summer Pages page.

First up are several pages I made for Mandy’s DSD Grab Bag called Beautiful Blessings. I fell madly in love with this kit and could not stop making pages. (And FYI, you can still get this HUGE grab bag for only $5)

I made the next three for challenges at SBB this month. It’s really nice to be inspired by challenges again. I think I needed that break.

Plans Change web

Plans Change
Journaling reads- In early 2011, we were all set to buy the townhouse we were living in. We had been renting it for years and our landlord was giving us a great deal. Then all of a sudden we were told that he had received a better offer from someone else. We went from “We’re buying a house” to “We have a week and a half to pack up everything and find a new place to live”. At the time it was incredibly stressful. We were pretty devastated, but we did what we had to do. We worked as a team to find a new home and move. Our new apartment is in a better neighborhood and we’ve made a wonderful home for ourselves here. It’s the first place we’ve lived that I felt like was truly “ours”. Having the sale fall through was definitely a blessing in disguise!

How It All Began
Journaling reads- I was never a paper scrapbooker. Scissors and glue intimidate me. I’ve never considered myself to be a particularly creative person, but when my sister began designing chat icons, I started playing around in Photoshop to keep her company. While researching tutorials for photo manipulations, I discovered this thing called digital scrapbooking. I was totally hooked! Finally, something fun to do with all those photos my husband insisted on taking! I joined a wonderful forum called Scrappity Doo Dah, found some friends, joined some challenges, and the rest is history. A few hundred layouts later, I’m still madly in love with this hobby.

I thought for sure I’d shared that last one before. I made it back in June!

Whew that was a lot of LO’s. That gives you a little taste of the complete randomness of my pages. I’m concentrating on summer pages, but I love throwing in other kinds of pages too. It’s all good, it all counts 🙂

Summer Memories: Welcome Home and First Swim

I am so excited about the new collar by Mandy and Mye de Leon! I’ve made two pages already, and I’m sure I’ll make a few more. And I haven’t even scrapped anything Thanksgiving related yet, which is the whole point of the kit 😛

I’m working my way through my HUGE (250+) list of memories I want to scrap from this summer. I’d like to have them all scrapped by next summer, but in order to do that, I’d have to make nearly 50 pages a month! There’s no way that’s going to happen, but I’m going to have a lot of fun trying 🙂

Welcome Home web

Welcome home

Journaling reads- When we got home, we had some chill time. We sat in [Little Man’s] room and showed him a few new toys, including a basketball hoop.  06.01.13first swim web

First swim. I took the journaling directly from this post. I’m so glad that I have the blog to remember some of these things. We cram so much into such a short time that I forget a lot of the little things we did at home.

Journaling reads- Sunday we took Little Man on his first swim of the season. He did great! He hasn’t been swimming since last summer, but he jumped right in and took off.

Both layouts were made with kits and templates from the Count Your Blessings collab.

Yonder Pumpkin Patch goodies from Mandy King

I loved this collection by Mandy. I’ve been lucky enough to have a ton of fall themed kits to work with this season. I have very limited “fall” photos, but I pulled out a couple for this kit, both from the same day. These were taken on our way to Nashville for the Super Secret Thanksgiving Surprise last year.

Yonder Pumpkin Patch Papers, Hodgepodge, and edgers by Mandy King

Journaling reads- We saw the funniest little squirrel at a rest stop on the way to Nashville. He was jumping back and forth, in and out of this trash can looking for snacks. He was kind enough to pause in his hunting so we could snap a few pics. Nov. 21, 2012
