From the Vault- Project 52: Week 38

Project 2013 January by Connie Prince Template by Connie Prince (retired)

I am, as usual, behind on sharing my pages. Here’s a page I made back in October.

When I was looking for something to scrap about for Week 38, there wasn’t an event that stood out. But there was an overall techy theme, so I went with that. Also, more blue!

Journaling reads- This was a pretty cool week for tecnology in our house. We downloaded iOS8 and played around with that. Jason had been obsessively reading about the difference in size between the iPhone 6 and 6 plus. He told me that some people on the forums were making mockup phones to scale so they could decide which one to get. He said that jokingly, but I actually thought it was a good idea, since I always carry my phone in my pocket. So the next day he came home with a printout for the 6 plus and cut it out for me. I then proceeded to stick the cutout paper in the pockets of different pants to see if it would fit. I was excited to see that it fits in most of my pants. I guess that’s one plus for being a plus size lady- bigger pockets! One other fun techy thing that came out this week was the Project Life app. I was surprised at how much I loved it! It was super fast and easy. I made three LO’s in a really short time that afternoon. Definitely an excellent week for tech.

*Project 52 is my attempt to do one page every week about a “current event”. These LO’s will tell longer stories about an event or theme, and be placed in my Library of Memories system. They are separate from my Project Life pages, which are more of an overview of our week. Here are more of my P52 pages.

Project 52: Week 37

Nature's Delight and A Simple Love by Simple Girl Scraps

This week I made a page for our afternoon in Boca. I actually made three total pages for that day so far, so I’ll put them all in this post.

First up is the one I made for the P52 challenge. I cannot get enough of LO’s with full page photos!

Journaling reads- The beach at Boca. It had been raining off and on all day so we didn’t stay very long. We walked along the pier and watched some people skimming. I’d never seen that before, It was pretty neat. There weren’t many people braving the drizzles. We walked along the pier and talked. It’s been a few weeks since we’ve taken many pictures so I think we were a bit out of practice. It was great to get out into the world and smell the ocean. I’m so glad we got out and explored. It had been awhile. We really needed that. September 13, 2014

(And now I realize that by “awhile”, I really meant “two weeks” since we’d been to a beach. But it felt like much longer).

The next page is a re-do of a LO I made with the Project Life app. I like this version much better. They’ll go next to each other in my Coral Springs area album. I used the Midnight PL kit inside the app.

And finally, I had to make a page for the Tesla. I did this one for the template challenge at GS. (Also, I asked Jason if the Valentine hearts and flowers made him feel emasculated in his LO and he was fine with it 😛 )

That’s kind of a lot of pages for one day, but I was just so happy to have my scrapping mojo coming back that I went a little nuts. It’s all good though 🙂

For this week, I told the story of my first Blurb book. I had mixed feelings about it initially, but Jason’s enthusiasm for it has won me over.

Journaling reads- This week I got my first Blurb book in the mail. I’ve decided to do PL in three volumes for 2014, and this was the first book. It was pretty exciting because I hadn’t gotten a book printed in years. I was a little disappointed in the size and quality of the paper. But surprisingly Jason really likd it! He likes that it’s easier to flip through than my regular scrapbooks. I’ve seen him look through it a few times on his own, which he doesn’t do with my other books. That makes me pretty happy 🙂

Project 52: Week 35

January 2013 collection by Connie Prince

Last month, I participated in the Project 365/52 challenge at Gingerscraps. Project 52 is similar to Project Life and P365, only you’re scrapping one event each week. (That’s my interpretation of it, but everyone does it a little differently)

Even though I do my own simplified version of Project Life, I thought it might be fun to make pages for longer, more current stories as they’re happening. It’s my way of dipping my toe into chronological scrapping. I love my Library of Memories albums though, and these pages will fit nicely into that system.

Here’s Week 35- Fort Lauderdale

I love all the blues in this page! I’ve noticed that blue is becoming a prominent color in my Coral Springs/ Boca/ Ft. Lauderdale area book. I’m pretty happy about that. I’m also happy to have all these details written down. I’m sure they’ll get fuzzy over time.

Journaling reads- We made our first trip to Fort Lauderdale in years on a blazing hot August afternoon. We walked through the streets around Las Olas, holding hands and window shopping. We found a little coffee shop and ducked inside for drinks and some much needed shade. We continued our walk, pausing to take pictures. Jason was in love with the little river that flows through town. It was neat to see boats of all sizes floating by. The rainstorm that had been threatening all afternoon finally caught up with us and we took refuge in an Irish bar. They had a live band playing and we thought about staying for a bit, but the rain stopped and we went on our way. We walked back to the car, but we weren’t ready for the afternoon to end just yet, so we drove to the beach. It was very cool, reminding us of Santa Monica. People were playing basketball and skating. We stayed long enough to get our feet wet  in the ocean and walk along the “bridge to nowhere”, then headed for home. Not too bad for a recon mission. We made mental notes of a few places we wanted to see next time. We definitely knew there would be a next time.

(And spoiler alert- there has already been a “next time”)

Library of Memories album: Places- Coral Springs

I’m excited about this whole Project 52 thing. I’ve never remotely been tempted to scrap chronologically, but I see the appeal in getting things scrapped while they’re still fresh. I am, of course, tempted to go back and scrap the previous 34 weeks. But I think I’ll worry about staying current right now. I’m not sure if this is something I’ll be able to keep up, but it’ll be fun trying 🙂
